Making Tax Digital is HMRC’s plan to digitalise the UK tax system. It will require businesses to maintain digital accounting records and they will need to report to HMRC on a quarterly basis.
If your business has an annual taxable turnover of more than £85,000, from 1 April 2019 you will be required to maintain digital records for VAT purposes and report to HMRC on a quarterly basis. There are further plans to roll out digital reporting to those businesses under the VAT threshold from April 2020.
At our events, we will explain more about Making Tax Digital and how it will impact you and your business. We will also provide guidance on what you need to do to ensure you’re prepared for the new HMRC requirements.
We would recommend that all businesses attend on of our events, even if your business is under the £85,000 threshold. The sooner you take steps to make your records compliant, the less impact the forthcoming changes will have on your business.
