Doug Perry, partner at Nottingham accountants Clayton & Brewill, will take on the London Marathon, on 23 April, to raise vital funds for Lord’s Taverners.
Lord’s Taverners enable young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with disabilities to enjoy sport. In 2016 alone, the charity provided 1 million new sporting chances to young people across the UK.
Having attended various events in support of the charity, Doug and his friend, Keith Roberts owner of Melior Land Ltd, decided it was time to challenge themselves in order to provide more support for the Lord’s Taverners.
“Having seen the great work that the Lord’s Taverners do for young people, Keith and I thought it was time we did more and we decided the London Marathon would provide the perfect challenge,” says Doug. who hasn’t taken part in a marathon before.
“I would like to say that the training has been enjoyable, but given the great British weather it has been a real challenge, with snow, wind and rain in some combination on pretty much every run, much to my kids amusement!” explains Doug.
Doug and Keith are hoping to raise, a combined, £5,000 for Lord’s Taverners; to sponsor them, visit their fundraising page at: https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/dougkeith
